EDISON, N.J. – All eyes were on the personalities today at the Pro-Am. By personalities, I mean the guys that are in the spotlight, mainly because of their golf skills, but partially because of their personality. Many groups were followed by the masses on Wednesday, including: Jordan Spieth, who tries to sign or at least say “I will be around to sign at the end of the round” and Bubba Watson, seen quickly saying “see you on the 18th,” to the crowds waiting for a chance at his autograph.
Others facing throngs of supporters were Phil Mickelson, who is known to not say a word when approaching the tee box and media savvy Justin Rose, who ALWAYS has a smile on his face and is ready for a quick interaction with “Team Rose.”
Then you have a guy like Brooks Koepka. At just 25-years-old, Koepka has quietly moved up in the rankings. He is poised, respectful and ready to play some competitive golf this week and for the remainder of the FedEx Playoffs. “I’ve played a lot just because I want to make it. That was the goal at the beginning of the year – was to make the Presidents Cup team,” he said on Wednesday at The Barclays. And that is just what he’s doing…and more.
On February 1st of this year, Koepka won his first PGA Tour event and he’s been playing consistently ever since. He has remained focused and I expect great things from him during the FedEx Playoffs.
