In the last three tournaments that Luke Donald played, he missed each cut.“My results were pretty disappointing, having missed a few cuts narrowly,” Donald said. “But, you know, sometimes the results don’t show the progress. I felt like my game was getting better each week, even though I wasn’t scoring particularly well. So, I wasn’t too frustrated.”
This week at the Honda Classic, bad weather and all, has proved that Donald is back in action with a T4 -4.
Dustin Johnson had a rough two days finishing +12, while Rory McIlroy entered into his first US tournament in the 2015 season finishing +7 over.
“I guess after coming off a three-week break, felt a little … I wouldn’t say rusty, but just not quite on top of my game yesterday,” McIlroy said. “And then today, I felt like I was trying to get something going and couldn’t. Coming off three weeks off and playing in conditions like these, it sort of shows you where your game’s at.”
So off we go, heading into the weekend with Rory and DJ out of the picture and guys like Luke Donald who have had rust starts high up on the leaderboard.
Hopefully the weather gets a little nicer for these guys and Sat/Sun will be fun to watch the players battle it out!
